Many had tried to ascertain the source of the Mystic’s Power. None of them ever got really close. It did not come from some freak of biology, or a secret talisman, but from his Love of Life, and his genuine Caring for others. The two were oversized passions which enabled him to See Things others could not.

The other key to the puzzle was the ability to Transport. This carried him into and out of situations that taught him more lessons than the average person can imagine. The biggest being the ways we are both the Same and Different. This allowed an Understanding of the Complexity of Human Being that others could not begin to fathom.

It is on the Basis of this Understanding of Human Being that allowed the Mystic to See the Truth. Seeing Truth raised the Mystic to a Compassion toward Human Being that was the basis for the Empathy that Guided His Actions.

Through history people tried to run down the Mystic. If on foot, the Mystic can run forever. Hard to catch a guy when he never rests. If on horse, the Mystic can transfer his endurance to the horse. Again hard to catch if the horse never has to rest.

It’s against this backdrop that the Mystic made his trek across the kingdom during the civil war. He kept the leaders of the revolution informed, allowing them to out maneuver the king’s men at every turn.

This is how the Mystic became a hero of the revolution, one all those revolting revered.

At the beginning there was the Mystery… and from his encounter with the Mystery there came to be the Mystic. The Mystic live in Cascadia, and roamed all the range all his days. Those who encountered the Mystic came to experience the Truth, as the Mystic Spoke the Truth to all who would listen. Thus was the beginning of The Mystic of Cascadia.
